Abstract
To explore the relationship between internal-external (I-E) locus of control and a variety of variables previously associated with I-E, a sample of 1,960 public school teachers was divided into two age groups (20 to 35, and 36 to 65). Seven of eight variables investigated (education, sex, income, self esteem, job involvement, job satisfaction, and alienation) showed stronger correlations with I-E for older adults than for younger adults. Only status was not found to be related to I-E for either age group. The results were contrasted with Lao's findings and discussed in terms of social learning theory.
