Spatial Evolution of Low-Frequency Perturbations Produced by a Grid in a Plasma

Abstract
The phase velocity and damping factor of grid‐excited perturbations are observed to depend on the position over about half a wavelength from an exciting source. Beyond there, Landau‐damped ion acoustic waves propagate, as predicted theoretically.Keywords
