Abstract
The quantization of meson fluctuation arount a two-soliton system is discussed. A new consistency equation which must be satisfied by the classical two-soliton configuration is derived. We demonstrate the existence of solutions to this equation in (1+1)-dimensional soliton models and show how they lead to covariant one-meson exchange. Keywords
