Abstract
Purkinje cell and mossy fiber activities related to smooth-pursuit eye movements and retinal image slip were recorded in vermal lobules VI and VII of the cerebellum in alert monkeys. Observation of both eye and retinal slip velocity signals in the discharges of Purkinje cells in vermal lobules VI and VII implicate the presence of a neural correlate of a target velocity signal. Results indicate the necessity of broadening the functional view of vermal lobules VI and VII to include a concurrent role in the regulation of smooth-pursuit eye movements. This publication has 27 references indexed in Scilit:
