Abstract
Irradiation of white mice (115: 75 controls) evidently lowered their resistance to cancer. When a carcinoma of low virulence (isolated by the author; described, probably mammary) was implanted, the number of successful implantations was increased in the irradiated as compared with the control mice, and the proportion of successful implantations varied with the dosage of x-rays applied. The author recommends car- cinoma of low virulence as a means of evaluating the resistance-lowering action of various doses of x-rays, and preliminary irradiations as a means of keeping alive tumors difficult to transplant. She concludes that irradiation would probably cause an artificially induced cancer to appear more easily, perhaps giving rise to more spontaneous tumors. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
