Abstract
Formulas for estimating the validity of random short forms were applied to the standardization data for three of Wechsler's intelligence scales. These formulas were used to demonstrate how much “better than random” the best short forms of these scales are. As a rule of thumb, an examiner would have to administer k + 1 subtests selected at random to attain the validity of the best k-subtest short form. Keywords
