Abstract
The occurrence and nature of opaque regions in Li2B4O7 single crystal have been examined; the opaque region-free Li2B4O7 single crystal, up to 55 mm in diameter and 80 mm in length, has been successfully grown. Opaque regions contain inclusions and Pt dendrites, and have occurred by incorporation of voids, existing in the melt, into the crystal. Impurity, forming voids, is almost H2O which was contained in starting materials. The distribution of SAW velocity in the grown crystal has also investigated. Keywords
