PULMONARY SPOROTRICHOSIS IN MICE FOLLOWING INTRANASAL INFECTION

Abstract
An experiment with mice, to determine whether the respiratory tract can serve as the portal of entry for murine sporotrichosis, is described. Sporotrichum schenckii was cultured from the lung tissue of 16 of 21 in tr ana sally infected animals. Eight animals yielded positive cultures of both lung and liver. The lung, liver, and splenic cultures were positive in 4 cases. Cultures from heart blood were negative for S. schenckii in all cases.
