Abstract
The dynamical susceptibility of an Ising model Hamiltonian in a transverse tunneling field has been calculated using a Bloch type approach to pseudo-spin motion. It is shown that the soft mode spectrum may become under-damped in the ordered phase though it is overdamped above Tc . The underdamped character of the soft mode disappears on deuteration due to the decrease in the tunneling integral. Keywords
