Abstract
Loss of weight, anorexia, matted fur and death will occur in mink receiving a purified ration supplemented with liver. Autopsy of these animals reveals fatty degeneration of the liver, kidneys and myocardium. Occasionally enlargement of the right side of the heart and atrophy of the adrenal cortex are also observed. A heat labile factor present in desiccated hog intestinal mucosa cures the syndrome of this deficiency and increases the survival time of the mink on experiment. Preliminary evidence indicates that another factor present in fresh spleen and fresh liver is also required. Neither of these factors is identical with the previously reported methanol extract and residue factors. Keywords
