Abstract
Glass‐formation limits were determined for the PbO, CaO, SrO, and ZnO germanate systems. All of these systems exhibit phase separation over at least a portion of the glass‐formation range. Data are reported for the thermal expansion coefficient, glass‐transformation temperature, and helium permeability of these glasses. The results appear to be primarily determined by the morphology of the glasses. Keywords
