Abstract
Suspended growth anaerobic reactors consisting of two consecutive zones, downflow completely mixed and plug upflow sludge blanket zone, were loaded with organics from 2 to 110 kg COD/m3.d. In spite of high solids content in the raw wastes, (total to soluble COD ratio of 1.9), the reactors performed without upsets under all loads, COD conversion to gas dropped from 0.22 m3/kg COD removed to 0.072 m3/kg for the highest loaded reactor. The COD removal efficiency at the highest load was 35%, which corresponded to 39.5 kg COD removed/m3.d.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
