Abstract
An epidemic of serologically confirmed hepatitis A occurred between May and Sept. 1983 in Singapore. The vehicle of transmission was traced to raw and partially cooked cockles, Anadara granosa, which had been imported from places with no sanitary control on the production. Strict controls on imported cockles are warranted.
