Abstract
The purpose of this study was twofold: first, to characterize the wood dust emissions from a shaper; second, to see if a usable control could be developed to reduce emissions from the shaper. The study showed that a hardwood (red oak) generated about eight times as many dust particles as a soft wood (white pine), and particle board generated about ten times as much dust as white pine. Relatively simple controls were shown to significantly reduce emissions. Keywords
