Abstract
Finite-element models of the two-dimensional transient heating in multilayered magneto-optical recording structures are reported. In this analysis, the laser energy dissipation is computed by considering reflection and absorption at every layer of the structure. The effects of varying thermal conductivity, absorption coefficient, and thickness of the magnetic film on heating have been investigated. Also, the effects of different input power levels, pulse durations, and of placing a reflecting layer next to the magnetic film have been studied. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
