Abstract
Primary amyloidosis with spontaneous rupture of the spleen is rare, only 2 such cases were previously reported. This report concerns a 52-year-old man who suddenly experienced severe abdominal pain and signs of an "acute surgical abdomen". He died within 90 minutes. At autopsy, hemoperitoneum and amyloid disease involving liver, adrenal glands and a ruptured spleen were found. In the absence of evidence of pre-existing disease, the amyloidosis was classified as "primary".Keywords
