Spectrofluorometric Determinations of Dihydrofuroquinoline Alkaloids in Choisya ternata Tissue and Cell Cultures

Abstract
A fluorometric method for the determination of balfourodinium and platy-desminium salts in Choisya ternata H. B. K. cell and tissue cultures is described. These alkaloids possess the same activation wavelength (310 nm) and emission wavelengths at 345 and 448 nm respectively, and are dosed after separation of ion-pair alkaloid-Brom-thymol blue own thin-layer chromatography. A method for a rapid estimation of platydesminium in total extracts is also proposed. This fluorometric method may be extended to other dihydro-furoquinoline alkaloids in Rutaceae extracts (Ptelea, Ruta).
