Abstract
Encephalomyocarditis virus has been shown to grow readily in cultures of fragments of abdominal muscles of adult mice. The virus produces a rapid cytopathic effect with almost complete dissolution of the tissue fragments. That the observed changes are due to the encephalomyocarditis virus and not to some other agent present in mouse muscle is substantiated by the observation that the cytopathic effect is completely eliminated by the addition of specific neutralizing antibody for EMC virus to the tissue cultures. Keywords
