Abstract
52 speech interruptions were distributed in a 900 word speech sample among 6 types of non-fluencies as follows: 1, 2 and 3 syllable repetitions, prolongations, interjections, word repetitions, phrase repetitions and revisions. 38 males and 32 females divided into 2 groups judged the recorded material. The 1st group was asked to measure all stuttering interruptions, all interruptions and finally normal interruptions. Group 2 reversed the order. Subjects were most consistent on syllable repetitions, prolongations and revisions, and marked these as stuttered interruptions. Both groups marked more stuttered interruptions when instructed to mark these and more normal interruptions when instructed to mark these. Keywords
