Factors Affecting Language Comprehension

Abstract
In a message presented to a listener by a clinician or a teacher, comprehension performance appears to be affected by the syntactic complexity, semantic familiarity, interaction between the semantic and syntactic complexity, contextual cues, and rate of presentation. These factors and the implications for a classroom or clinic environment are discussed. Suggestions for evaluation are presented along with suggestions to facilitate comprehension performance.
