Abstract
Phloroglucinol reacts with arylmalondialdehydes in the presence of hydrochloric acid to form 5,7-dihydroxyisoflavylium salts. Reduction of these salts can be utilized to form isoflav-2-enes, isoflav-3-enes or isoflavans.Keywords
