Abstract
By utilizing a glass capillary gas chromatographic N detector (GC-N) method specific for phencyclidine (PCP) and sensitive to picograms per milliliter in blood or urine samples, occupational intoxication of law enforcement personnel charged with handling confiscated illegal PCP preparations was demonstrated. PCP persisted in blood and urine for at least 6 mo. after the last known occupational exposure in 1 officer. Some aspects of the PCP problem were outlined and possible mechanisms of the occupational intoxication discussed. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
