Abstract
This paper presents a study measuring endotoxin levels in faeces of healthy adults using the Limulus amoebocyte lysate (LAL) microassay. Data showed mean faecal endotoxin levels of 1 mg (range 001–100 mg) per gram of faeces. No correlation was found with the concentration of Enterobacteriaceae in faeces and free faecal endotoxin levels. Keywords
