Abstract
A new QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) recording technique developed for digital VCRS is reported here. By using an improved coded 16-QAM method, a recording density as high as 0.95 /spl mu/m/sup 2/ /bit is accomplished on a conventional ME (Metal Evaporated) tape. Keywords
