Abstract
The spectra of 35 metal nitrates are presented A tabulation of observed absorption maxima is made and an interpretation of the spectra provided This is based on symmetry changes on the nitrate group, resulting from changes in the metal-to-nitrate bond The compounds are classified as to the degree of ionic or covalent characterKeywords
