Reactions toward the stimulus source: Analysis of correct responses and errors over a five-day period.

Abstract
Administered a choice reaction time task to 8 male undergraduates who pressed either a right- or left-hand key in response to monaurally presented tonal commands signifying right or left. Each S performed 192 test trials a day for 5 days. Reactions were significantly slower when the meaning of the command conflicted with the ear stimulated than when it did not. This interference effect persisted throughout the 5-day period. Analysis of the latency and frequency of different kinds of errors support the conclusion that the source of the interference was an initial tendency to react toward the stimulus source.
