Abstract
The muscles of mastication of the rabbit, cat, dog, and monkey were characterized as mixed red and white muscle types on the basis of succinic dehydrogenase and phosphorylase content. The chacterization was related to the known function of the masticatory apparatus peculiar to each animal. Keywords
