Abstract
Glasses in the SiO2/GeO2/F/P2O5 system have been investigated as materials for core and cladding of multimode and single-mode fibres, and the possibility of using F-doping whilst achieving low attenuation in the 1- 1.8 μm region established. Minimum values of 0.28 dB km and 0.23 dB km have been observed in single-mode and multimode fibres, respectively. Keywords
