Association of Physical Activity and Human Sleep Disorders

Abstract
SYMPTOMS OF disturbed sleep are common in the general population, with overall prevalence rates of between 35% and 41%.1-3 This is especially true in the elderly, in whom up to 50% of those surveyed may express some dissatisfaction with the quality of their sleep.2,3 Factors contributing to poor sleep include concomitant medical problems, psychiatric and/or psychological conditions, and poor sleep hygiene.4-6 Furthermore, sleep disturbances are frequently chronic, with 56% of those affected continuing to have symptoms for years.4
