AN ALGORITHMIC MODEL OF THE MAMMALIAN HEART: PROPAGATION, VULNERABILITY, RE-ENTRY AND FIBRILLATION

Abstract
The theory of synchronous concurrent algorithms is outlined and applied to the construction of an anisotropic coupled map lattice model of electrical activity in the mammalian cardiac ventricles, derived from anatomical measurements of geometry and fibre orientation. The model is used to illustrate propagation, vulnerability, re-entry and fibrillation.
