Abstract
Lasing in a silicon-organic hybrid (SOH) waveguide is demonstrated for the first time. The device combines nanophotonic silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguides with active organic cladding materials, thereby enabling silicon-based optical sources at infrared telecommunication wavelengths. Keywords
