Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of a peer oriented drug education program on the knowledge, attitudes and drug use of high school students. A study was conducted with students in grade 9 in two Ontario schools, with one group receiving six periods of drug education and the control school none at all. The peer-oriented program led to more knowledge about drugs, but no differences in the use of drugs or in attitudes. It is concluded that some education programs, including the one tested here can increase knowledge without affecting attitudes. Keywords
