Abstract
Surface wind was measured in Smith Sound and Jones Sound in northern Baffin Bay in conjunction with an investigation of the North Water. The influence of local topography on the surface wind was found to be especially strong where the sea narrows to form a channel. Surface wind through a channel seems to be confined within the channel; the wind direction is adjusted to run parallel to the channel orientation. Keywords
