80 Gigabit per second Transceiver for Optical Communication in Supercomputers

Abstract

This paper reports the performance of the first un-cooled 80 Gigabit per second transceiver designed to provide very high speed optical interconnection for super-computers. Error free transmission is reported for 190 hours through 1km.
