Abstract
Pregnancy was maintained to the 17th day of gestation in 90% of pyridoxine-deficient rats by injn. of 1 [mu]g estrone plus 1 mg. progesterone daily but not by either hormone separately. Deficient rats uninjected or injd. with sesame oil averaged only 10% maintenance of pregnancy under the same exptl. conditions. Other combinations of estrone with progesterone were not as beneficial. The results indicate an inadequacy in the secretion of the ovarian hormones in pyridoxine deficiency. The B6-deficient rat may be compared with the hypophysectomized-oophorectomized rat in which pregnancy is maintained by injn. of the same hormones at the same levels. Keywords
