Abstract
Benign tumors of the thymus gland are uncommon. The rarity of a thymolipoma was noted by Unver5in 1957 when he reported a case and found only 13 other cases reported in the literature. The symptoms that the patient commonly notes are those due to the bulk of the tumor.2The largest thymolipoma that has been excised was 6,000 gm. The unusual pathological appearance of the thymolipoma has been reported by Guilfoil,3who noted that the thymolipoma is a true mixed tumor. There is fatty tissue derived from the mesoderm and thymic tissue from the endoderm. There has been no reported instance of a thymolipoma undergoing malignant degeneration, although it is a possibility.
