Abstract
A general expression for the spectrum of scattered light from monodispersed, infinitely dilute solutions of optically anisotropic molecules is presented. Application is made to the particular cases of rigid-rod macromolecules and long, flexible coils. The calculations involve extensive use of the theory of the rotation group. New results are obtained for the anisotropic part of the Fourier transform of the frequency spectrum of light scattered from optically anisotropic, rigid-rod macromolecules. In the case of the random coil, Pecora's results are extended to more general scattering angles and the full range of molecular weight. Horn's formulas for the total scattering of rods and coils are reobtained. Keywords
