Abstract
A new antibiotic, fumagillin ("Antibiotic H-3"), is effective in vitro against E. histolytica at concns. of 1:10,000,000 to 1:15,000,000. Preliminary in vivo studies on monkeys naturally infected with E. histolytica indicated that fumagillin possesses amebacidal activity. 5-125 mg./kg. for 5 days cleared 10 of 14 macaques of the parasite after 8-14 wks. Keywords
