Abstract
Obesity often runs a long and disabling course with important health and economic consequences.1,2 It is now well accepted that obesity contributes to the total burden of disease due to its role in the onset of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes mellitus.3-6 Furthermore, evidence is accumulating that overweight individuals more often develop disabilities and have a lower quality of life than normal-weight individuals.7-9This publication has 21 references indexed in Scilit:
