Phospholipid metabolism in nervous tissue. 2. Metabolic stability

Abstract
The fate of injected P32 has been followed in blood and in the phospholipids of brain, spinal cord and sciatic nerve of developing rats for a period of 189 days after injection. The fate of injected P32 has been similarly followed in mature rats up to 179 days after injection. Brain-lipid metabolism in developing and mature rats was also studied by means of [I-Cl4]-glycerol. A proportion of the phospholipids of rat nervous tissue appears to be metabolically inert.
