Abstract
This new method for intraocular transplantation is based upon holding the graft against the inner surface of the cornea with a suture and preventing adhesions between the iris and the transplanted tissue by protecting the graft from contact with the iris during the operation by means of special instruments, irrigating the anterior chamber of the eye with dilute heparin solution during the intraocular manipulations and restoring the form of the anterior chamber by filling with the dilute heparin solution as the chamber is closed. Grafts of homologous tissue (anterior hypophysis) with this method become established in the anterior chamber of dogs, a result unobtainable in this species with current methods of transplantation.
