Abstract
In a study of 75 spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes, no relationship was found between seedling vigor and establishment in the field and ATP content of dry seed, or with seedling vigor by controlled germination tests in growth cabinets at 14 or 18 °C. In any search for genotypic variability for stand establishment in spring wheat, differential seedling mortality rates and dry weight accumulation at the five-leaf stage appear to be useful characters to measure.
