Abstract
Four new bands have been observed in the TiO spectrum at 5326.9 Angstrom, 5358.2 Angstrom, 5389.6 Angstrom and 5422.0 Angstrom and have been shown to belong to the 1-0 sequence of the β system (c 1Φ-a 1Δ). The following constants have been calculated for the system (all in cm-1): Te' - Te'' = 17 890.5, ωe' = 916.7, ωexe' = 4.33, ωe'' = 1016.3, ωexe'' = 3.93. Morse potential Franck-Condon factors have been computed for the c 1Φ-a 1Δ, b 1Π-a 1Δ and b 1Π-d 1Σ systems and the theoretical intensity distributions for each system calculated. Measured relative integrated intensities of the β system compared well with theoretical values calculated from the Franck-Condon factors and confirm the identification of the new bands. Expected positions of unobserved sequences of each system are indicated and tentative assignments have been made for some previously unidentified bands. Keywords
