Abstract

Reduction of [tris(tert-butyldimethylsilylamidoethyl)-amino]chlorouranium(IV)[L³UCl] with potassium gives the crystallographically characterised mixed-valence (III/IV dimer [L³U)₂-µ-Cl] which acts as a source of trivalent uranium giving pentavalent [L³UN-SiMe₃] on reaction with trimethylsilylazide.
