Abstract
Insecticides mixed with fertilizer to control the sugar beet root maggot, Tetanops myopaeformis, have been shown to cause a reduction in stand. Under green -house conditions the phytotoxicity of chlorinated hydrocarbons and organic phosphates were compared. In general, the chlorinated hydrocarbons reduced germination and emergence by 23% while the organic phosphates on the average caused 41% reduction. However, Hercules AC 528 appeared to stimulate germination and growth, while Dow ET 14 in addition to reducing germination caused the tops of the emerged beets to curl, resembling beets damaged by 2,4-D.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
