Abstract
The susceptibility and solvent Knight shift changes caused by rare earth impurities in liquid Cu are reported. Apart from a small excess paramagnetic contribution, believed to originate in the valence levels, the susceptibilities agree with free ion spin-orbit coupling theory. The Knight shift changes caused by core scattering are two orders of magnitude smaller than those previously found for rare earth impurities in liquid Al.Keywords
