Abstract
Digital signal processing combined with either pre-distortion at the transmitter or coherent detection at the receiver can eliminate penalties due to fibre dispersion. The nonlinearity of transmission fibre results in an optimal balance of pre-distortion and receiver equalisation.Keywords
