Reiter's Syndrome

Abstract
Serious complications occur so rarely in Reiter's disease that they are frequently overlooked. A detailed clinicopathological study of a fatal case revealed generalized multi-systemic changes with concomitant abnormal laboratory findings. Cytotoxic degenerative changes were noted in affected organs such as lymph nodes. Death was due to necrosis of gastric mucosa and massive gastric hemorrhage. Colonies of pleomorphic organisms were found in the gastric tissue removed ante mortem. Such changes are thought compatible with hypersensitivity.
