Abstract
Fifty-four calves have been anaesthetized for the insertion of a pulmonary valve prosthesis by a technique using nitrous oxide, halothane and gallamine. Anaesthetic supplementation during cardiopulmonary bypass was achieved with methohexitone 1 mg/kg. Post-perfusion hypoxaemia and pulmonary complications were avoided by carefully controlled ventilation and postoperative oxygen supplementation. Keywords
