Experimental Buckling With Homologous Sclera and Cyanoacrylate

Abstract
Implants composed of homologous sclera and isobutyl 2-cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive were investigated in scleral buckling procedures performed on 16 rabbit eyes. Endoplants and explants produced in such a fashion maintained their structural integrity, were nontoxic to ocular tissues, and ultimately became inseparable from the host scleral tissue. The distinctive characteristics of these implants give them potential applications in retinal detachment surgery.
